Lay Speaker Program
The Wolf Bayou Presbytery is developing a Lay Speaker Program for laymen
who can fill in and speak at area churches as needed.
A lay speaker must be:
- an active supportive member of a General Baptist Church,
- eager to serve through the church, community, and world,
- well informed on Scripture, doctrine heritage, and organization and life
of the General Baptist Church,
- committed to witnessing through church and community leadership,
care-giving ministries, and spoken communication,
- willing to improve his skills for learning.
In addtion, each lay speaker must be recommended by his pastor or church,
must have a desire to serve as a lay speaker, must be gifted in speaking and
service, and must complete a three week training course. He may serve in any
capacity in the church except those which require ordination.
All persons who are interested in being part of this program should speak with
their pastor.
