Our Worship:
Our worship services are typically traditional, consisting of hymns, prayer
time, contemporary special music, and biblical preaching using Powerpoint
presentations. Our choir sings each Sunday, and performs special cantatas
once or twice a year. Wednesday evenings include Bible Study for adults,
and age appropriate activities for children and youth. We also have prayer
teams that meet monthly.

Children & Youth:
On Sunday mornings we have Children's Church classes for ages 0-6th
grade. We have an active Youth group that meets on Sunday evenings at
6:00 pm and again on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm.

Our History:
In November of 2007, Pleasant Ridge General Baptist Church celebrated
fifty years as an organized body of believers who gather at our present
location. Connection to the Wolf Bayou Association however, goes back to
the decade of the 1920's. Those years prior to 1957 involved worship and
service with non-denominational Christians at what is now Pleasant Ridge
Union Church, also located in Ida.

As is true of any church, our present physical and spiritual facility owes its
existence to the Godly faith and hard work of a few persons of generations
past who saw a need and endeavored to fill it. Ten individuals signed a
bank note for $1,000.00, and they along with a few others, using mostly
hand tools, cleared donated land and erected a small meeting house
(without heat, air, or plumbing.) Thirty-six members then charted the course
for us to follow. Among those who played pivotal roles were Bradley Lacy,
Billy Lacy, and Guy Lacey, who led the congregation as deacons. Of the
thirty-six charter members, we are blessed to have three remaining with us
today. The Reverend George Grant served as the organizational pastor.
Thirteen ministers have served our church prior to our current pastor,
Reverend Jeff Thomas, who has been with us since 2001.

That original small "boxy" building has been enlarged and improved beyond
recognition and the membership roster now numbers 184, about half of
which are active members.

While buildings and numbers can be significant, we at Pleasant Ridge fully
realize they are meaningless unless they reflect a God-centered mission,
and our prayer is that it may always be such a mission at our church.
